Indigenous Land Acknowledgement

On behalf of the Board, we acknowledge that York Region is located on the traditional territory of many Indigenous peoples including the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Huron-Wendat and Métis peoples and the treaty territories of the Haudenosaunee, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and Williams Treaties First Nations.

Today this area is home to many diverse Indigenous Peoples, and we recognize their history, spirituality, culture and stewardship of this land.

We also acknowledge the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation as our closest First Nation community

8.1

Aviva Insurance Company of Canada Vehicle Lease Donation

• RECOMMENDATION

  1. That the Board approve the in-kind donation of the lease of a 2022 Lexus GX 460 vehicle from the Aviva Insurance Company of Canada pursuant to the Police Service Board’s Donation and Sponsorship Policy No. 02/01.

Proposal for Use of Public Relations Reserve Funds

• RECOMMENDATION

  1. That the Board approve a disbursement from the Public Relations Fund for the upcoming Region in Rhythm event being hosted jointly by The Regional Municipality of York and York Regional Police on November 7, 2024, in support of the United Way Greater Toronto.

2025 Schedule for Regular Meetings of the Board - Report of the Executive Director

• RECOMMENDATION

  1. That the Board approve the proposed 2025 schedule for regular meetings of the York Regional Police Service Board and Board training and education sessions attached as Appendix A.

Public Relations Reserve Fund – Request for Funding - Report of the Executive Director

• RECOMMENDATION
  1. That the Board approve the following disbursement from the Board’s Public Relations Fund, as detailed in this report:
     1. $5,000 to the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards for the 2024 Labour Conference.

Delegation of Authority Report– April 2024 to September 2024 - Report of the Executive Director

• RECOMMENDATION

  1. That the Board receive this report pursuant to the Human Resources Committee Bylaw 03-24 and Delegation Bylaw No. 12-19.

Donation of Confiscated Clothing Items

• RECOMMENDATION

  That the Board approve a one-time donation of 300 confiscated clothing items to chosen charities within York Region.
